Title: Optimal lower bounds for first eigenvalues of Riemann surfaces for large genus

Abstract: In this article we study the first eigenvalues of closed hyperbolic surfaces for large genus. We show that for every closed hyperbolic surface $X_g$ of genus $g$ $(g\geq 2)$, the first eigenvalue of $X_g$ is greater than $\frac{L_1(X_g)}{g^2}$ up to a uniform positive constant multiplication. Where $L_1(X_g)$ is the shortest length of simple closed multi-geodesics separating $X_g$. Moreover,we also show that this new lower bound is optimal as $g \to \infty$.
报告人简介:吴云辉,清华大学长聘副教授,“海外高层次青年人才”入选者。主要研究方向为Teichmuller理论与几何,曾先后在Crelle’s Journal、J. Differential Geom、Math. Ann、Proc. Lond. Math. Soc 等国际知名数学期刊发表论文多篇。2012年博士毕业于美国布朗大学;2012-2016年期间担任美国莱斯大学的 “Evans讲席教师”;2016年至今任职于清华大学丘成桐数学科学中心。
